Oil Boom Linear Hauler Launch and Recovery System

The Oil Boom Linear Hauler Launch and Recovery System promotes technical advances in launching, recovering and storing large lengths of oil boom.  This launch and recovery system is capable of handling differing types and varying lengths of boom from various platforms and locations while deploying from pallets or ISO open top containers versus multiple storage reels.

The Oil Boom Linear Hauler is capable of deploying and recovering oil boom from the deck of suitable ships of opportunity.

This deployment and retrieval system:

• Eliminates the need for multiple limited capacity storage reels

• Minimizes crew fatigue and extensive manual boom handling

For rapid response, boom is deployed and recovered to and from:

• Truck mounted units directly into harbors or to the deck of vessels

• Storage pallets or containers

 PERFORMANCE

• System capable of recovering oil boom at tensions and speeds that suit boom performance specifications without causing damage to the boom.

• Tensions in excess of the boom design parameters cause drive system to stall

• Fail safe brake stops drive system when control valve is in the center or neutral position

• Brake controls boom from being pulled off hauler at excessive high tensions

OPERATORS

• Hauler requires a minimum crew to deploy and retrieve the boom

 CONTROL

• Hauler speed and direction manually controlled, proportional with the position of the speed control valve

• Control handle centers when released and controls movement

• Tensions in excess of boom working load slips brake to deploy boom without damage

• Convenient control location allows operator full view of boom deployment or retrieval.

ENVIRONMENTAL

• Hauler designed for use on an open ship deck in a salt water spray environment

• Unit provided with ISO castings, can be welded or lashed to the deck

SIZE AND WEIGHT

• Sufficient size handles various booms used by the oil spill response industry (unit approximately 8’ x 8’ x 8’)

• Weight minimized to allow handling by deck mounted cranes and forklifts to aid in installation, removal and transport (approximately 5000 lbs)
